The water buffalo emoji is an additional bovine pictograph available on most emoji platforms. It is not as widely used as either the cow or the ox emojis, though can be used interchangeably with either. On some platforms it is depicted in quite a realistic fashion while others have opted for a more cartoon-ish look. It always appears as a shade of grey, ranging from light grey to almost black. It has horns on its head, and the Samsung version could be mistaken for – and used as – a black bull. It’s used to represent buffalo, farms and farm work, rural living, and more generally still: strength and endurance.
